ABC's of Our Classroom
Absences If your child is absent, they must bring a written excuse with them upon their return to school. Birthdays If the students want to bring a snack into the class on thier birthday, please feel free to do so. If the students wish to bring birthday treats to share, we ask that each treat is wrapped individually. Class Rules West Park Elementary rules are in your student booklet and are expected to be read and followed. Our class rules are:
Conferences are scheduled after the first and third report period. They will be posted on the calendar of events and a reminder will be sent home as well. You may schedule a conference at any time during the school year if you have any concerns. Correspondance Please sign your childs student planner each night. Feel free to call me at home or make an appointment with me before or after school. You may also email me anytime at jpuntney@live.com. Reading In addition to our daily subjects, we will have at least a fifteen to twenty minute period each day when we will have Drop Everything and Read Time. Students will also have AR (accelerated reader) books that they bring home every night. I encourage them to read at least fifteen minutes each day. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of reading. Snacks We will have snacks each day in the classroom at 2:30 p.m. It is not mandatory for students to bring snacks. However, I do encourage you to send a nutritional snack and drink if your child does bring one. Please do not send soda or candy as a snack. Spelling Spelling words will be sent home with your child every Monday. Please check your childs agenda for the list of spelling words. Spelling test will be be given on Friday. I encourage the students to review the words each night. Weekly Preview Each week (usually Fridays) your child will receive a weekly preview to let you know what we will be doing for that week in our classroom.
